Hope is reasonable expectation or confidence.
Throughout the ages faithful men and women have hoped for
God's promises to be fulfilled.
"Why are you downcast O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God
For I will yet praise Him,
My Savior and My God." (Psalm 42:11).
When he was on trial before King Agrippa, the apostle Paul
expressed his hope for the return of Christ and the establishment
of God's kingdom on earth: "And now it is because of
my hope in what God has promised our fathers that I am on
trial today. This is the promise our twelve tribes are hoping
to see fulfilled as they earnestly serve God day and night.
O king, it is because of this hope that the Jews are accusing
me." (Acts 26:6-7).
