1. A building in which people live
"They will build houses and dwell in them." (Isaiah
65:21).
In the reign of King Solomon the Israelites built a Temple-a
'House of God' at Jerusalem. In later years they polluted
and defiled it. It was a magnificent building, but the worship
was corrupt and insincere. Jesus quoted to them:
"Is it not written 'My [God's] house will be called a
house of prayer for all nations'? But you have made it 'a
den of robbers'?" (Mark 11:17).
