The Gift of God.
God gave life to Adam, the first man. "The Lord God formed
the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life, and the man [Adam] became a living
being." (Genesis 2:7).
From that time onwards although the act of procreation rests
with parents, God gives life to unborn children, and continues
to sustain them through life until they die.
"For the living know that they will die, but the dead
know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory
of them is forgotten. Their love, their hate and their jealousy
have long since vanished; never again will they have a part
in anything that happens under the sun." (Ecclesiastes
9:5-6).
Man has no right to life; he cannot keep himself alive and
he cannot create life. "Naked I came from my mother's
womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord
has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."
(Job 1:21).
