Preaching is explaining God's will and purpose and love for
His creation to others and calling them to obedience. It is
the common duty of all believers. It requires no special appointment
or qualification except understanding, and faith in God. At
God's command Noah preached the righteousness of God to his
friends and neighbours, warning them that their world would
come to a sudden end if they neglected God, their Maker (see
Genesis 6:9-13; 2 Peter 2:5).
Jesus in the synagogue at Nazareth, quoted the words of Isaiah
concerning himself: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor."
(Luke 4:18; quoted from Isaiah 61:1).
All the disciples of Jesus, including ourselves, are similarly
commissioned by Jesus, who said: "Go into all the world
and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes
and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe
will be condemned." (Mark 16:15-16).
