Resurrection is the act of bringing the dead back to life,
individually, as in the case of Lazarus (in John 11:41-44),
or as a chosen community at the return of Christ (see John
5:28). Paul tells us: "Christ has indeed been raised
from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the
dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so
in Christ all will be made alive." (1 Corinthians 15:20-22).
"Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake:
some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting
contempt." (Daniel 12:2).
Those who were brought back to life by Jesus and the apostles
died again, but those who are raised from the dead at the
return of Christ will live forever.
